I am a rocket scientist who likes to race bikes.
I grew up in Northville Michigan where I started riding Mountain Bikes. There my friend and I would tear up some local trails in our baggy shorts making fun of the stuck up roadies.
Went to school in the flat-lands of Indiana at a little school called Purdue University. There I studied Aerospace Engineering with a Focus on Spacecraft/Rocket Propulsion and Design. West Lafayette is also where I got my first road bike, shaved my legs, wore tights, and started racing bicycles, all thanks to the Purdue Cycling Club. There I competed in the MWCCC for all five years of school, raced Nationals three times, and fell in with a great group of friends.
After school I moved briefly to Tucson, AZ to try to be a biker bum. It didn’t really work out, I took an Engineering job in Greenville, SC for a month before the job transferred me up to Cincinnati, OH. I spent a year there still racing for the Panther elite cycling team. Got some good results in 2012 and turned Pro with Smart-Stop Cycling team that fall and moved back down to Greenville for training.
